![]() My DVD and VHS titles are in storage with only a few notable exceptions, mainly things that never jumped to high fidelity formats or have only received inferior releases in modern formats, ala the original Star Wars trilogy. My current collection (that’s displayed on shelving right next to my bed that I’m typing this post from right now) is about 2,500+ titles strong and those are purely Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray discs. I collect physical copies of films and television shows and I have since I was a little kid. There is a service in my country that let you rent arthouse films that still play or just left cinema’s for the price of a ticket or less, and where part of that price goes to a cinema of your choice. I sometimes rent digitally, but almost exclusively films I missed theatrically for some reason and really wanted to see. Streaming is probably how i watch most films right now, just because it’s easy. It’s mostly really cheap finds, or premium releases like Criterion or box sets right now Availability on streaming services is too hit and miss (and there is always the risk of things getting pulled) and the picture quality of Blu Ray and 4K disks are better. I buy dvd’s and blu rays because physical media is where it’s at. ![]() I try to go to the cinema weekly, though sometimes there are weeks where I don’t go and then I see multiple movies theatrically a week (and I attend at least one festival where I see multiples a day) If there is a movie on that I want to see, usually it is available on the broadcasters streaming service for a few days after. ![]() It was all of the above untill I cut the cable.
